Communities run cleanup events. Participants submit photo evidence via the dApp. Trained verifiers attest to each submission onchain. Verified cleanups mint $DCU tokens and generate Hypercerts (ERC-1155 impact certificates). Every 10 verified cleanups, a Hypercert aggregates cumulative impact data: weight removed, area covered, contributors, timeframes.

The result is a public, open dataset of verified environmental action, readable by anyone and composable with any Web3 system.

DeCleanup runs across two chains with distinct roles:

A peer-verified, fraud-resistant record of physical real-world actions with onchain rewards. The core pattern is: participant submits evidence, verifier attests, reward mints. The architecture separates verification (the contract records truth) from rewards (a separate signed claim system controls minting), which prevents drain attacks and speculative inflation.

Useful for: tree planting registries, citizen science data collection, community contribution tracking, any protocol where unverifiable self-reporting is a problem.

Gasless web3 participation for people who don't own crypto. Google or email sign-in creates a browser-side EOA, predicts a Safe smart account, and Pimlico sponsors all gas. Users get a real onchain identity without buying ETH or installing a wallet. The full production version of this pattern is live at dapp.decleanup.net.

Useful for: any civic tech, climate, or community app where friction at the wallet step kills participation.

Why non-tradable $cDCU: separating speculation from reputation keeps the verification system legitimate. $cDCU represents sustained environmental contribution, not a financial position.

To become a verifier: stake 100 $bDCU or $cDCU. Review cleanup photo submissions. Earn 1 token per valid verification. Slashing applies for fraudulent approvals. An optional YOLOv8 ML pre-screening layer (in decleanup-main-celo/gpu-inference-service/) can auto-screen submissions before human review for communities that want additional fraud resistance.

Every 10 verified cleanups generates a Hypercert (ERC-1155) containing: weight removed, area cleaned, waste types, contributors, timeframes, cumulative impact metrics. Hypercerts are permanent, portable, and usable for grant reporting, ESG documentation, and Web3 identity.
