fxreddit / rxddit appears to have stopped working today 29/5/26.
Been testing in Discord.

FWIW - external reddit downloading apps have also gone down, not sure what the issue is,

@MinnDevelopment Apologies for the ping, but this is worth a heads up.

[Sneeeeek]

yt-dlp has also started asking for cookies to download from reddit, so there has definitely been an API change. I hope this may help in some way.

[Sneeeeek]

Sorry for making another comment, but i believe it may be related to this change, specifically, the "Deprecating unauthenticated JSON access" point: https://www.reddit.com/r/modnews/comments/1tq9vxo/protecting_communities_from_scrapers_and_platform/

fwiw vxreddit seems to be working

[n0samu]

Both rxddit and vxreddit are currently broken for me :(

[loccey9]

rxddit doesnt work from me from Hungary meanwhile vxreddit does

[MinnDevelopment]

Looks like Reddit disabled the public JSON endpoint, which means this service is likely dead as a consequence.

[vico93]

vxreddit still works for me, though.

[openpayment]

Aaaaaand vxreddit stopped working, like 15 minutes ago or something like that

[MarcG2]

Was vxreddit being maintained by someone else? I just tried it and it worked.

[MinnDevelopment]

I'll look into an alternative endpoint on the weekend, but reddit is fighting against these kinds of services so it will likely also be blocked eventually.

What's the status of things now? Any news?

What's the status of things now? Any news?

reddit just shut it down and it will probably be like this going forward

[HarpBunny]

No I said what's the status of things now - dev said he'd look into it two weeks ago but we haven't heard back since
