Hi, I'm André Gasser

I'm a Backend Engineer based in Switzerland, working with Java, Kotlin and Spring to build resilient, high-scale software systems.

My current focus is at the intersection of software engineering and artificial intelligence:

  • AI agents and autonomous coding systems
  • Agentic workflows for software development
  • Large language model applications
  • Machine learning and computer vision
  • Developer productivity, testing and automation
  • Reliable backend systems and distributed applications

What I'm exploring

I’m interested in building software agents that can work asynchronously, collaborate through specialized roles, reason over existing codebases and deliver useful results with minimal supervision.

I also explore practical machine learning applications, including computer vision, model evaluation, dataset design and real-world deployment.

Featured projects

  • Lightning Strike Extractor
A Python command-line tool that turns hours of storm footage into ranked lightning events, full-resolution stills and structured JSON/CSV results. It uses OpenCV and FFmpeg to detect flashes, distinguish channel-like lightning structures from broad cloud illumination and process demanding footage such as 4K, 100 fps HEVC recordings.

  • AI Test Engineer
An autonomous multi-agent system for improving test coverage in Java and Gradle projects. It analyzes JaCoCo coverage, identifies critical hotspots, generates JUnit 5 tests, reviews them against project-specific standards and iteratively fixes build or compilation failures.

  • Automated Feline Recognition
A computer vision project using YOLO11, custom dataset balancing and experiment-driven model optimization.
