cannot push this app to appfog

Hi

I got the code and pushed it to appfog and got the following error when the application was started:

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "manage.py", line 11, in <module>
    import settings
  File "/mnt/var/vcap.local/dea/apps/af-python-django-0-5bb2abc74bd9c24676832a0b2139640c/app/settings.py", line 18, in <module>
    mysql_srv = vcap_services['mysql-5.1'][0]
KeyError: 'mysql-5.1'

So i pushed it a little further: I created a django app on appfog, pulled it, deleted it on appFog and tried to push it back, and ended up with the exact same error:

    mysql_srv = vcap_services['mysql-5.1'][0]
KeyError: 'mysql-5.1'

So what am I doing wrong here?

It looks like you need to create a mysql service and bind it to your app, It should prompt you if you wish to create any services when you push your app, otherwise you can create and bind a new service either from the web console https://console.appfog.com/ or from the cli http://docs.appfog.com/getting-started/af-cli#services, You should be able to start you instance from the web console after doing this

Thanks for getting back to me.
I did create a new service and it worked.

But why do we need to create a new service?
Why not binding it to an existing one would suffice?
If I try to do this I get exactly the same error.

Mmm sorry I can't really help you there, I would suggest putting
print os.environ['VCAP_SERVICES']
under the
import os
line in settings.py, It should then print to the std out log file all the services that are bound to this app.
The only thing I can think of that might be causing this is that you are trying to bind to a database deployed in a different infrastructure, you can check the infrastructure's on the web console https://console.appfog.com/
I should mention that I'm not a part of the appfog team and am by no means an expert in it.
