Bolt running a real session in the terminal

About Bolt

I built Bolt because shipping software from the terminal shouldn't mean working alone. Bolt reads your codebase, understands what you're building, and writes code with you.

Bolt is a terminal-first AI coding agent. A fast, keyboard-driven TUI with a whole team of specialized agents: code, plan, ask, review, debug, refactor, docs, security, migrate, and perf, plus subagents for research and multi-step tasks.

Bolt sessions go where you go. Detach and re-attach (even to a remote server), fork, share, export, and import your work at any time. Extend it with MCP servers, plugins, and the built-in API server, or use the same engine as a multi-window desktop app.

Getting started

# Quick install (macOS / Linux)
curl -fsSL https://github.com/ghraw/bolt-builder/bolt-cli/dev/install | bash

# Or with npm / bun / pnpm / yarn
npm i -g @bolt-builder/bolt-cli

# Then, from any project
bolt

Prefer an app? Grab the desktop build for macOS, Linux, or Windows from the latest release.

Changelog and Releases

We ship often. Every release comes with generated notes on the releases page, and the changelog tracks what's new.

Issues, Bugs, and Feature Requests

Please search existing issues first. If nothing matches, file a new one — we work issue-first, so every change starts with an issue and the templates keep things easy to track.

Support and Questions

Questions, ideas, or just want to say hi? Join the Discussions — release announcements and posts land there too.
