A Claude Code skill that gives Claude Google's official style guides for 17 languages, condensed into one reference file per language.
Claude reads only the guide matching the language you're working in, so a Python review costs a single 14 KB file rather than the whole 194 KB corpus.
Google's style guides are authoritative but long, and they live across a dozen HTML and XML pages. Pasting one into a prompt is wasteful; asking a model to recall it from memory is unreliable.
This skill packages them so Claude can load exactly the guide it needs, exactly when a style question comes up — with the upstream URL attached for anything the condensed version leaves out.
| Language | Reference | Upstream |
|---|---|---|
| AngularJS | angularjs.md | link |
| C++ | cpp.md | link |
| C# | csharp.md | link |
| Common Lisp | common-lisp.md | link |
| Go | go.md | link |
| HTML/CSS | html-css.md | link |
| Java | java.md | link |
| JavaScript | javascript.md | link |
| JSON | json.md | link |
| Markdown | markdown.md | link |
| Objective-C | objective-c.md | link |
| Python | python.md | link |
| R | r.md | link |
| Shell (Bash) | shell.md | link |
| Swift | swift.md | link |
| TypeScript | typescript.md | link |
| Vim script | vimscript.md | link |
Each reference covers naming, formatting (column limits, indentation), language features to prefer or avoid, comment and documentation conventions, and idioms with short examples.
Clone into a Claude Code skills directory. The directory name must stay
google-coding-standard-guide-skill — it's how the skill is identified.
For all your projects:
git clone https://github.com/encryptedtouhid/google-coding-standard-guide-skill.git \
~/.claude/skills/google-coding-standard-guide-skillFor a single project:
git clone https://github.com/encryptedtouhid/google-coding-standard-guide-skill.git \
.claude/skills/google-coding-standard-guide-skillClaude Code picks it up on the next session. No build step, no dependencies — the skill is plain Markdown.
To update:
cd ~/.claude/skills/google-coding-standard-guide-skill && git pullAsk naturally, and Claude loads the skill when a style question is in scope:
Review this file against Google's Python style guide.
Does this shell script follow Google conventions?
Rename these Java fields per Google style.
Or invoke it explicitly:
/google-coding-standard-guide-skill
When a Google rule conflicts with the conventions already established in your codebase, the skill instructs Claude to prefer local consistency and to call out the divergence rather than silently reformatting your project.
SKILL.md is the entry point. Its YAML frontmatter carries the
description Claude matches against your request; the body is a routing table
that maps each language to its reference file, plus instructions to read only
the matching one.
request → SKILL.md frontmatter matches → routing table → one reference file
That indirection is the point: the routing table costs a few hundred tokens, and only the relevant guide is ever loaded.
SKILL.md Entry point: frontmatter + routing table
