🔴 HIGH RISK

The switch to PCRE Unicode escapes (\x{...}) combined with the default UTF-8 locale in GitHub Actions creates a silent failure point. When grep -P encounters binary data or null bytes (\x00), it aborts with a 'UTF-8 encoding error'. Since 2>/dev/null is used, the gate will fail silently and skip files.

To resolve this:

  1. Treat files as byte streams by prefixing the command with LC_ALL=C.
  2. Update PATTERNS to use hex-encoded UTF-8 byte sequences (e.g., \xc2\xa0 for NBSP, \xe2\x80\x8b for ZWSP) instead of \x{...}.
  3. Remove the redundant -r flag (since find already iterates over files).
  4. Optimize performance by replacing \; with + in the find command.
