Switch off Claude reviews

Hey, as I understand, for now Claude is set up the way it will automatically review each new PR.
If that is the case, I want to switch it off. So does nothing automatically, only if I request it.

You have to think how to do that. Maybe you can modify .github/workflows/claude-code-review.yml and it will help. If not, then just remove the file, create PR and merge it.

What I Found

The .github/workflows/claude-code-review.yml file is configured to automatically trigger Claude code reviews on these PR events:

• opened - when a new PR is created
• synchronize - when new commits are pushed
• ready_for_review - when a draft PR is marked ready
• reopened - when a closed PR is reopened

Important Limitation

I cannot modify or delete files in the .github/workflows/ directory due to GitHub App permissions restrictions. This is a security feature to prevent automated changes to CI/CD pipelines.

Solution: How to Disable Automatic Reviews

You have two options:

Option 1: Delete the workflow file (Recommended)

This completely removes automatic Claude reviews. You can still trigger Claude manually using @claude mentions in issues and PRs.

git rm .github/workflows/claude-code-review.yml
git commit -m "Remove automatic Claude code review workflow"
git push

Option 2: Disable the workflow in GitHub UI

1. Go to the Actions tab in your repository
2. Click on Claude Code Review in the left sidebar
3. Click the ••• menu (three dots) in the top right
4. Select Disable workflow

This keeps the file but prevents it from running. You can re-enable it later if needed.

Verification

After making either change, Claude will only act when you explicitly mention @claude in issues or PR comments - no more automatic reviews on every PR!
