I invite you to have a look at definitions-systems, which I feel is a strongly related and possibly much better idea.

edit: definitions-systems does not yet provide explicit support for dealing with standard Common Lisp definitions out of the box, but obviously this is planned for a later version. But I do think the basic concept is very simple and very powerful.
