Hi, I’m Romain Ruetschi, also known as Romac.

I’m a Senior Staff Software Engineer at Circle, based in Switzerland.

My interests include formal methods, functional programming, distributed systems, compiler construction, and operating-system development. I explore these areas primarily through Rust, Scala, and Haskell, while occasionally building small macOS apps for myself.

  • Choreo — Choreographic programming in Scala
  • Postino — Postcard-compatible binary serialization for Scala 3

In the works

  • A programming language with algebraic effects, planned for release later this year
  • A deterministic RISC-V hypervisor written in Rust
