One of my client is encountering a TLS-related error when calling cloudsync_network_sync() on Windows 7 (64-bit). The error returned is:

the error schannel: next InitializeSecurityContext failed occurs because Windows 7's schannel implementation has limited TLS protocol support and cannot establish secure connections to modern servers.

Root Cause

• Windows 7 schannel only supports TLS 1.0/1.1 by default
• Modern servers (like SQLite Cloud) require TLS 1.2+ and have deprecated older protocols
• the sqlite-sync network layer relies on Windows' native schannel for SSL/TLS

Solutions

Option 1: Update Windows (Recommended)

• Install Windows 7 updates that enable TLS 1.2 support
• Apply KB3140245 and configure registry to enable TLS 1.2

Option 2: Alternative approach

• Use a newer Windows version (Windows 8.1+ has better TLS support)
• Consider using the library on a supported platform
