Date axis misbehaviours

Our Numeric widgets don't work very well in some cases when axis-type is 'date'... In Style/Axes but also in Style/Traces like in the case of histograms with a date axis.

Do we need to have a NumericOrDate that dynamically shows a date/time picker when fullValue looks like a date?

NumericOrDate seems like the right thing to do..
Maybe its time we had a datepicker in our RCE.. something like: http://airbnb.io/react-dates/
because we'd also need to take into account the different calendars supported by plotly.js

In the short/medium run, I'm OK if we only support the gregorian calendar in datepickers. But yes, I like the airbnb date picker. does it do times as well as dates?

But I don't see support for different calendars..

Like I said, different calendars isn't that important. Time is quite important though

It has date/time and its localizable

material-iu could have been it, but I was looking more into the api, and its basically a text input of type datetime, so its going to look different on different browsers, and its not supported in IE: https://caniuse.com/#feat=input-datetime

API makes sense. Has Date/Time. Is localizable.
Generally liked all the widgets those guys provide.

re "Make a control combining Bin Size and Max Bins" I took a careful look at the new autobin behaviour and I think the current status quo is OK... let's break this one out into a separate issue...

I do think that Bin Size and dtick merit special handling... Basically for numeric axes, absolute and relative quantities are both numbers, so it made sense to have them be Numeric. But for date axes something like Step Offset is absolute whereas Step Size is relative so we might need a NumericOrTimerange equivalent to NumericOrDate
