Summary

  • Adds a module-directory string input to node-ci.yml, mirroring go-ci's exact idiom: default ., threaded into each fixed script's env as MODULE_DIRECTORY (lint, test, build), so a repo with several independently-gated Node projects can call node-ci once per project.
  • Extends .github/tests/reusable_ci_contract_test.py's typed input inventory and script-threading assertions for the new input, matching how run-test/run-lint were added for go-ci in ci(workflows): add run-test and run-lint toggles to go-ci #19.

Defaults preserve current behavior for existing callers byte-for-byte — module-directory defaults to . and is only consumed if a caller's own scripts/ci/node-*.sh reads MODULE_DIRECTORY. portwing and sockguard pin the reusable workflow by SHA, so nothing changes for them until they deliberately roll to a new frozen SHA that includes this input.

Fixes: #21

Test plan

  • python3 .github/tests/reusable_ci_contract_test.py (run from repo root, as Standards Validation does) — 11 tests, OK
  • Full Standards Validation local suite (community health, greptile summon/config, quality report, compileall, JSON validation) — all green
  • python3 -c "import yaml; yaml.safe_load(open('.github/workflows/node-ci.yml'))" — valid YAML

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features

    • Added an optional module-directory setting to the reusable Node.js CI workflow.
    • Linting, testing, and build checks now run against the configured module directory, defaulting to the repository root.
  • Tests

    • Expanded workflow validation to confirm module-directory defaults and environment propagation.

Mirrors go-ci's module-directory idiom: a string input defaulting to
"." threaded into each fixed script's env as MODULE_DIRECTORY, so a
repo with several independently-gated Node projects can call node-ci
once per project. The default preserves current behavior for existing
callers.

Extends the reusable CI contract test to assert the new input and its
threading, matching how run-test/run-lint were added for go-ci in #19.

How can I continue?

After more reviews become available, a review can be triggered using the @coderabbitai review command as a PR comment. Alternatively, push new commits to this PR.

To avoid repeated limits, reduce automatic review volume by pausing incremental auto-reviews earlier, using label-based review opt-in, excluding WIP or generated PR titles, or requesting reviews manually when the PR is ready. If your team needs uninterrupted high-volume reviews, an organization admin can enable usage-based reviews.

How do review limits work?

CodeRabbit enforces per-developer PR review limits for each organization. Most developers receive the normal plan review availability.

For paid Pro and Pro+ PR reviews, CodeRabbit uses adaptive limits for sustained high-volume activity. When a developer's recent PR review activity reaches the 95th percentile or higher among CodeRabbit users, additional reviews become available more gradually as earlier reviews age out of the rolling window.

Please refer docs for additional details.

Estimated code review effort: 2 (Simple) | ~10 minutes

Merge Risk: ⚪ Minimal · up to 60ec0

The PR adds a defaulted module-directory input while preserving existing callers’ behavior. A localized contract-test hardening opportunity remains, but no actionable merge-blocking risk is supported by the current evidence.
